Angry Touch Screen Not Working

The touch screen on my wife's Pre has stopped working. I pulled the batt and it worked for a moment and now nothing. The tech at sprint was dumfounded, said he does not know how to work on Pre's. Anybody eles have any similar issues? Looks like a call to cust service for a new phone.

Default Touchscreen Not workin

I have the same issue. The phone fell off my lap at 10am. At about 2pm I did the webos 1.0.4 update. At 11pm the touchscreen quit working after receiving a txt and email at the same time. Sprint won't replace the phone because of the scratches from the fall. I have tried resetting by holding down the power button and flipping the ringer/vibrate switch three times, reloading from the palm website, and using this link:
http://kb.palm.com/wps/portal/kb/com.../32759_en.html
to download the webos doctor. To use this tool it leaves out an important step that when you reach the screen that asks to plug in your phone you will need to remove the battery, hold down the volume up key while inserting the battery and then the usb cable. You should receive a usb symbol on the screen when and the 'next" button will illuminate. good luck

**UPDATE** Just stopped at a second sprint store and they said as long as I have the insurance on the phone they will replace it. The store was closing in 10 minutes so they asked that I come back in the morning. Will update with what I find out.

**Last Update** Another sprint store replaced the phone no questions asked and apologized for the original stores customer service. The profile of the pre is awesome. All my contacts and apps are ready to go on the new phone!

Similar thing happened to me on second day. It was intermittent, but did it three different times. One time it stopped after vibrating for an incoming call. When I had the charger cord plugged in, it would work (eventually.)

I called the PALM support number listed on the accordian-fold brochure. He finally said my battery was loose and to put a small piece of paper along the top edge of the battery to keep the metal contacts on the opposite end pressed tight. I used a small piece of an index card folded in half and it seemed to work. The Palm tech also told me to go to the store and request a new battery, which I did today. It hasn't had that problem (at least not yet) even without the paper in it. Hope this helps!!!

A faulty battery connection may be the root of all of this. I've ran into similar problems with my pre. I kept playing with the battery or have pressed on the back cover to make it work. I've dropped my phone three or four times by accident, still works like a champ with a little battery massage.

This has happened to me as well. I woke up this morning and have lost all of the touch screen functionality. I cannot do anything. It seems like overnight my phone was turned into a glorified digital picture frame by the invisible little gnomes that run around my house at night.

Talking with Sprint on the phone they said I would have to bring it to a Sprint store location to have it looked at. I told them it needed to be replaced because not even the WebOS Dr. would recognize it as being connected to the computer. They said sure let me transfer you to our insurance claim line. It was at that point I stopped them. I previously had to do an insurance claim due to the volume button sticking which I knew was a known issue but the gentleman at the time told me it was not and that was my only option.

So is it me or is Sprint just not wanting to replace broken/defective phones?

glad I now have a $600 digital picture frame that I cannot even change the picture on
