I was told by Sprint that the Pre is able to get 4G, and it is already available on the East Coast already.

I was told by the Palm rep that it "has the latest network hardware, but it had not been tested on 4G yet" and he didn't know if it supported it or not...

The sprint 4G (4 generation wireless technology)= bigger better band with=faster downloads.

The sprint 4G network will be the first 4G network to be in operation. It should be close to a road runner connection in the palm of your hand. The 4G network I think will be up and running by the end of this summer. As of now we're all still on the 3G network. I'm not even a sprint employee.....

Just talked to Sprint, and while they cannot confirm nor deny at this point whether the pre will take full advantage of the new 4g network (figures), I was told 4g is already operational in Baltimore and will be available in all major cities no later than the end of 2009. It was also hinted at that the pre will be the first phone on the Sprint network to be 4g compatible.
