The Palm Pre situation in the states is pretty much carved in stone with Sprint getting exclusive rights to the device until future notice. But how about elsewhere? A Spanish publication is reporting that Telefonica has secured the rights to launch the Palm Pre in Spain, the UK and Latin America under their brands Telefonica, O2 and Movistar respectively.

This bodes well not only for Palm Pre fans living in those regions but for all future Palm Pre owners. As we’ve seen with Android and the iPhone, the proliferation of more devices on the same platfrom provides more incentive for developers to make compelling applications for the platform. Everybody here wins.
