Palm Pre Battery Life
It may be awhile before we get some first hand reports on actual battery life of the Palm Pre, but the first key to unlocking that puzzle has been uncovered – the actual battery.
According to Pocketables.com, the battery is 1200mAh which is compareable to 1150mAh battery found in both the Palm Treo 800w and Palm Centro. These devices don’t have the longest battery life on the earth but I think itd be fair to label them “decent” at minimum. Especially when compared to the likes of the iPhone and G1.
But therein lies the problem… the iPhone, G1 and eventually the Pre will be running on much more complex Operating Systems that ask the device to do much more. From rendering beautifully bright and crystal clear screens with smooth animation to keeping track of always on GPS, status notifications on web browsing, there is a good chance that the Palm WebOS will use battery much quicker than other Palm devices.
Will a 1200mAh battery be enough? It’ll be interesting to see how well WebOS handles battery life… or rather how rapidly it consumes it. The 1200mAh should be treated as an educated guess at this point but the chances that it’s somewhere around that figure are pretty much definite given the size/shape and relation to others in Palm’s lineup.
So given the fact that the Pre battery life might not be amazing to say the least, will the cool TouchStone charger make you forget about that? Do you think the battery life will be better or worse than competing handsets?

One thing for shure, they are not giving those specs away. I have been looking arround to find out how it would holdup but no luck. I would have to assume that it is nothing to be proud of. Good luck
Samuel, I noticed a leaked document which stated that the Palm Pre will have up to 5 hours of continuous talk time. Of course that will vary depending on the amount of apps you have open.
The battery life is terrible on the pre. Charged it all night, never made a call. Checked my email twice and it only ran for 3.5 hours. THIS NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED by PALM!!
Same problem. I hardly use it and its battery is running out in less than 4 hours, I am having to charge it 2-3 times a day.
I just purchased my Pre and had the same situation, unfortunately. I charged it over nite, downloaded a few applications then exited out of them and the battery was dead within 4 hours. This is VERY disappointing!!
Same as above. I got the palm pre Thursday & have had horrible experience w/ the battery. Friday night I charged it fully. Unplugged it @ 8 a.m. Used it Sat. a.m. a few times for @ 2 min. each on email/texting items. Charged some more Sat late morning b/c I noticed it was getting lower. Went out & made a few short “touching base” type phone calls – @ 1-2 min. each/hooked up the bluetooth – I was on it for @ 10 minutes. Left it on standby – and the phone went dead at 4 p.m. It’s a cool phone for sure – but what good is a cool phone if it’s dead or you have to have it plugged in all the time?!?!
Hey everyone…i was having the same issues with battery life…actually had to charge it at least teo time a day. I researched online and made all the changes it told me to with no change in the battery life. But 2 days ago I disable the GPS and the auto locate (in the locations service menu)both…..and i was SO EXCITED because after a full charge my battery actually last 1 day and 13 hours!!!!! My advice is to make sure that you disable GPS and Auto Locate and only charger your battery when it needs it. it typically takes about an hour to 2 hours to fully charge. try not to leave it plugged in over nite…as soon as it is fully charged i would recommend taking it off the charger so you can develop a good battery mempry…i hope this helps…thanks guys!
Another thing i did to improve battery life…when i am finished with a card such as texting…i throw it away (swipe up) because if you have 5 cards open in the back ground…the phone is actually running all the apps. and i also put the phone in sleep mode as soon as i am finished doin what i need to do. thanks and hope this helps
they don’t want people to find out how cheap is the PRE really is..
Regarding the Palm Pre battery life, would using a bluetooth headset for phone conversations and/or listening to music be less draining on the Palm battery than using a plug-in earphone/microphone set?
Using bluetooth will always (for reasonable values of always) use more battery than using a plug-in headphone and mic.
I’m getting it to last about 3.5 hours with minimal talking and app use after a full charge with wireless and bluetooth off….essentially on standby, not even talk time. Its kind of miserable.
Did you update to the latest 1.02 firmware?
i have up dated to the new firmware and still have low battery life. Even bought the stone charger so that it was easier to charge since the mini usb is hard to get to. I am also having a problem with heat when charging.
Turn off the locator services!! I doubled my battery life from 4 to 8 hours by turning the locator services off. If you need the GPS it will automaticaly turn it on when needed. As of right now 4-1/2 hours and I have only used 29% of my battery power. Yesterday before I turned off the locator services I would have been on my 2nd charge already.
Thank you! It worked!
Talked with a Palm rep and he verified all settings. Strongly recommended the locator service be turned off. If an app needs it, the app either asks or turns it on. Battery life is better than before. I started with 4.5 – 6 hours on a charge and now getting upwards of 9-10. Still miserable by comparison to my old centro that would run for 3 days. Palm should address this problem with a longer life battery for free to the owners who consider the Pre a great phone.
I’m getting about the same so far. Pretty poor. And, yes, it has the 1.0.2 firmware update.
I’m getting no more than 4 hours of standby time. Yesterday it died by noon after removing it from the charger a little before 8am. I didn’t make one call, or send one text. I have email notifications turned off but I still get the little alert at the bottom of the screen. However, since it’s sitting with the screen off the only thing I’d think it could be would be the radio/antenna.
My Palm Pre gets roughly 3 hours of battery life as well in addition to an overheating problem. I have already called Sprint Tech Support who set me up with an e-ticket to get my battery replaced by visiting a local Sprint Service Center. Unfortunately, all the ‘local’ Sprint stores do not have any batteries for the Palm Pre nor do they have any Palm Pre phones for an exchange. I called Sprint’s Tech Support back to inform them the situation with the local Sprint stores and asked them to mail me a battery. I was then told that the only way to get a battery replacement (someone out there actually thinks this is the solution) was to get it from a local Sprint store or go through Palm.
I then called Palm since I figured they have a vested interest in getting their company saving phone working properly. I was on the phone with Palm for about 43 minutes in which time they attempted to conduct some basic troubleshooting steps. I found myself repeating the simple fact that my phone had 100% battery life and while on stand-by it consumed it all in less than 3 hours. The call to Palm ended with them informing that they are escalating my problem and someone will contact me within 24 – 48 hours.
So far, there is not any iPhone killing going on over here.
Don’t depend on the or any sprint store, to come to the rescue, they sell phone and services. They are not tech’s, so save yourself the time and the frustration don’t go. Report the lack of support to the FCC they are interested and they will get the boys off their duff.
I came here looking for ways to extend the battery past a day. I’ve had my pre for a week, and it always lasts all day unless i’m traveling and using the GPS all day. I found an article that said to turn off the gps unless you’re using it. It also said to have your pre check for emails less frequently. I’m going to try these tips, and i’m sure it will last past the current day (12-16 hrs.) it also said to keep it charged all day when you’re driving, at home, or at the office. I’m still in that mind frame of not charging it until it’s about to die, so i’ll see if that helps, too. I love this phone, and i’m still amazed that I can access any website and interact with it like i’m doing now.
I got less than 13 hours out of mine, today, with “normal” use… compared to my Blackberry Pearl. I didn’t have time to play with it today, wasn’t watching videos, wasn’t using Bluetooth, and used it mainly for email and text messaging. 13 hours won’t do it for me, kids. I may have to head back to Blackberry.
I charged mine to 100%, turned off all apps, and put it on the nightstand at 9:30 last night. At 2:30, it woke me up to warn me of a low battery. By my calculations, that’s five hours with nothing going on. That’s not acceptable to me since I work ten-hour days and take four-hour flights. I hope that is not typical and that there is something wrong with that particular phone.
Yea, I don’t think it’s your phone by itself.
I’m sooo sooo unhappy with this poor battery life.
I don’t care how cool this phone is, I”d rather downgrade and have something I can use all day.
The battery life is bad plain and simple. I cant even go three hours without it dieing on me.
I bought mine on Saturday, and the battery life seems to be terrible. I am a realtor and need my phone all day long. But I quickly realize that ikf you are not using it, you better be charging it. Very Disappointed.
That happened to me too, I charged it for the 50th time of the day went to bed with it at 100% at like 12 and @ 3:30 it was at 10 percent? Unless my phone was making calls on it’s own I did not touch a thing and it died 3 1/2 hours not doing anything. I am so disapointed in this phone. I have been waiting for months for it but I can’t even go 2 hours without the phone almost dying. I have even exchanged the phone for another one and it’s definitely the phone. Whoever designed this phone did not do a good job, this is my 3rd palm phone and have never had any problems with battery or anything. You would think someone would make sure the battery could mantain normal use before you release the phone.
Battery life on my Pre is horrendous… 5.5 hours at best so far.
battery life sucks
I also get virtually no battery life. I have used it lightly this morning and after 4 hours it only had 47% battery life. Yesterday it died entirely after about 7 hours of medium usage. Both of my Treo’s got atleast a full day without needing to be charged before they went down… this has GOT to be fixed!
My battery life is ridiculously short as well. I love this phone but the battery life is overwhelming my love for the phone. I hope a new battery or firmware is offered soon to help extend the life.
So far, battery life leaves soooooooooooo much to be desired. Purchase the Pre on “Opening Day” and played with it mercilessy so I didn’t give it’s short battery life that day much thought. Next day, same thing.
Monday (yesterday) it sat at work with me all day doing not much of anything. Talked for 20 minutes on a call, had all “background” apps closed, and only two email accounts pulling data – both set to “as they arrive”, and the wifi on though not connected. 16% battery by the end of an 8-hour work day.
Hubby says “don’t leave the wifi on if not using, it will continuously search”. So today, that’s turned off. Same closure of all background, same two email accounts w/ same setting, and one work call for 45 minutes. Down to 18% already and I’m only 5 hours in to my day.
Not looking promising.
I agree the battery life is too short. It won’t even last for an 8hr day. Also, the phone has no voice dialing. Might have to downgrade.
Looks like the best thing to do regarding the Pre is to wait until the next generation for a larger phone, larger battery, more resourceful OS.
Whaaat? What about those of us, who bought the phone, what, just get our money back? don’t see how Sprint will do this, plus I have been waiting 6 months for this thing, and yeah like people say who cares if the apps are great if you cant live a normal life because you have to wonder when its going to die and if you will be near some place to charge the thing. This is UNACCEPTABLE Palm, no two ways about it. I am in business technology consulting, I am telling you, BIG mistake, HUGE.
With the GPS Navigation activated, the battery only lasted a couple of hours. If the phone is going to have GPS navigation as an app to use, it has to be able to run constantly for 8 hours, including other use, and still not be dead.
I think that it would be a good idea to create a backplate for the phone that can extend the size of the phone and, in turn, allow for a larger battery. This is a feature that the Samsung Blackjack added. In addition, you also had the normal backplate, a small battery, and an attachment to just charge the battery. This way I could use one battery and have the other in the battery cradle, when one battery died, I could just switch out backings and batteries. The larger battery would last 4 to 5x longer than the smaller battery.
My concern is that if I decide to hang on to the phone with the confidence that the battery life issue will be addressed and corrected, will I get all of the necesary fixes at no cost to me? Also, if the fix turns out to be a new generation, will I get it for free?
In my opinion the obvious answer is, “yes”.
Guess the battery issues is universal. Day 1, I charged my phone 4 times. The first few times, the phone got really hot to the touch. That issues appears to have resolved itself.
Turned off email sync, but the emails keep coming even on the manual setting. Got the update, no change.
I’ll be patient. I touted the phone for 5 months, can’t give up now. Battery life, choppy video and limited access to the Palm web site. Few setbacks, but i’m still on board.
my battery life was dismal at first also. I have never posted on a forum but i feel i have to tell my experience with my palm pre. i got about three hours of battery life the first day. i went and exchanged the battery and charged, used and got about 5 hours. turned off backgroung apps and recharged and go tabout 8 hours. had three email accounts checking in hte background and set preferences to check manually but still got notifications of new emails. decided to delete all the email accounts and battery life went up a lot. yesterday charged fully by 7am and had gps, wireless, location services etc. all off and backlight set to low–used phone my usual amount with several phone calls and lots of texting andby 8pm still had 80% battery life. figured the battery was getting conditioned and wanted to run it totally down and recharge so at 9pm turned everything back on including wireless, gps, etc. and this morning expected it not to turn on, but it still had 30% battery. i even went on the web and paid my sprint bill and checked facebook and other web sites and now have 28%. a few days ago i almost took it back to sprint, now i am glad i didn’t.
My battery drained and the phone does not turn on after vcharging for 1 hour. There is picture of a drained battery in the screen.
YES! im going through the same thing as we speak..I have to make an important call but i cant cus my phone went dead and now it wont cut back on…Now my bank may be closed because i cant cut on my phone and make an urgent call..
yes,I have the same problem…phone died at not it just keeps telling me the battery is drained, I even tried to take out the battery and start over. Think I might be returning it tonight!!!
I agree battery life sucks.
Centro batteries work on the Pre, so consider purchasing the extended battery. The catch, you have to get the OEM size centro extended life battery. And it’s only 1300 or 1350 mAh not a huge difference.
I also bought a car charger (mandatory)
And I bought 2 palm batteries with a wall charger for $18.95 off Ebay. The 2 Palm Centro batteries are used but they work damn well and since it comes with a wall charger I always have a spare battery charged and ready to rock and roll.
By no means do I feel like because I’ve done this it’s all better. I shouldn’t have go through an entire battery with little to no usage. The iPhone’s battery sucked too but not nearly as bad. There must be something draining our batteries on the Pre. I’d like to see it fixed without giving up any features.
I just kept a log of my experience with the Pre today. Here it is:
Wednesday. 6/10/09
Taken off charger at 7, battery @ 100%.
7:45: Turned of on its own, turned back on.
10:15: Turned off while sliding closed.
10:18 Already down to 36% battery with minimal use! Maybe 10 minutes total time being used with screen on!
10:40 screen freezes while on bofa.com, wont reload.
10:55: Used web for 15mins, phone got hot, battery went from 33%-24% (screen brightness is at 50%!!). Slid screen down and it faded to black and phone shut off.
10:57: restarted phone.
11:01: 20% battery warning
11:04: battery at 17%, phone is hot.
11:10: took 2 min phone call, checked vm for 1 min, battery @ 13%.
11:16: 9% battery warning.
11:26 5% battery ”phone will shut down soon” warning.
11:34: phone died
11:34: try to turn back on. I get the recharge icon.
Anyone experiencing something similar or is mine just a lemon? I’m going to my Sprint service center today to either schedule an exchange or to return it and get my $300 + my $150 upgrade back!
Like the phone though, but it’s like having a ferrari that has to be plugged in to work. Kinda lame.
My battery died also and got the dead battery red empty icon and the phone won’t wake up no matter what I do. I am now leaving it on the charger hoping it will come back from the dead. Battery life sucks.
I just spoke to Sprint technical support since I have the same symptoms (3-5 hour battery life) and they said that there have been widespread reports of short battery life, and that there is a “bad batch” of batteries that went out with the Pre. Sprint said to stop by their store and though they may not have the replacement Pre battery in stock, they are giving out Treo Centro batteries temporarily for Pre owners and ordering the Pre batteries.
This is not a big deal for me… I have to go return a $35 (!!!) wall charger at the store anyway (I found a MicroUSB cable which I can use to charge the phone for $15 instead.) This is really unfortunate for Palm… I hope it is simply the battery and not something more serious. The software really is nice on the phone.
Funny. I called Sprint with same problem. She said there was no known issues and I should take it back to the retail store. Of course, I’m not suprised by this as the communication at Sprint is poor to say the least.
If I spent 10 minutes a day on the phone this would be great, kind of funny … I have a 3000 minute plan, I don’t think the phone could even make that many calls without being hooked to a charger during half of them
The Pre runs out of battery when sitting dormant. I can’t even charge my phone fast enough to continue to use it. The battery literally runs out even when constantly plugged in to my computer! My phone is running super hot and appears to be a fire hazard!
This is going to be nightmare for Palm and Sprint! What a shame, because this is a pretty cool phone. A little slow between apps but still pretty cool. The keyboard is nice to have and the Sprint everything price is $50.00 per month cheaper than AT&T!
Just got my pre yesterday afternoon and needed to change my battery 3 times already. I am working today so not using it too much today. 3 hrs into my work day and my battery is at 63%. What a bummer. I was really hoping this phone was going to be a good one. I hope they fix the issues. I really like the phone but not if the battery is going to need to be recharged all the time.
I’ve used three diff BlackBerry’s,a Samsung BlackJack, and a G-1 phone in addition to “trying” an HTC and the Samsung Omnia (before buying the BB Storm) and this Palm PRE is about the worse for battery life (BB is the best).
I typically go 2-3 days between re-charges with both the BB Curve & Storm, sending several e-mails per day (reading even more), and using over 15 minutes of talk time each day — the PRE is only good for about six hours of “stand-by”.
I need a device that can handle my usuage and go a min of 12 hours between charges. This PRE is being returned tomorrow.

I love this phone, but this battery is awful. My first day with it I sent no more than 30 messages and had all the setting to optimize battery life and did not talk on it and buy oh, 1pm it was at 17%. Called Sprint and they said that was “abnormal,” and that they had a bad phone but the battery was good. Today after charging the phone with the same settings and about the same usage with 2 phone calls at about 3 pm I am at 40%. So I plan on going out tonight but clearly my phone isnt going to make it, there was a comment about about taking email off? Well if thats the case I would not have bought this phone to replace my 8830. I understand that its not a blackberry that can go 1-2 days with no charge and 5 email accounts constantly checking email, tons of txt and talk.. but common Palm. If this phone is a supposed to be Sprint/Palms Salvation we need to do something about this. Updated firmware and OS might fix this, but I am worried that like the iPhone it will wait until the next phone and all the die hard Sprint users will get jammed. I hope Palm/Sprint will address this with some sort of compensation i.e battery, car charger or just recalling them and replacing them all. thoughts?
I was having the same battery issues are people are listing here, but I read about a bug in the mail app that affects Hotmail accounts. I removed my Hotmail account and turned off the GPS and mine has lasted all day without a charge and I still have 50% battery left. Plus the phone is a LOT cooler.
Sprint and Palm know about the Hotmail bug and I’m sure they are working on a fix. For now I can live without Hotmail as long as I have decent battery life.
I don’t need GPS on at all times. I’ll manually enable it if I need more granularity than the tower based location system gives. Again, a hassle but not a deal breaker.
I was also experiencing short battery life, but then I turned off Bluetooth, WiFi, and the Autolocator. I have gone 3 DAYS without charging, and my battery is at 80% still! I don’t know if this is battery conditioning, or related to the turned off functions. Phone is also cooler than it was the first few days of use.
I got my phone yesterday and charged it and turned it off. In the morning, it had turned itself back on and was at 80%. I charged it fully again and started about nine at 100% charge. Now its nearly 1 and at 40%. I expect it will be dead by 5. I expected the phone to last all day (16 hours). If they can’t fix this, this I will dump my Pre and go to whatever has a good battery or back to my Treo 700P.
I resisted getting a smart phone for year. Read about the Pre and decided to make the leap. What a disaster. Charged to full the night after I received. Drove three hours to a business meeting the next day and the battery was empty when I got there. Put it on the car charger but still took a couple of hours before I had enough power to use it. Gets very hot when charging. Not just warm, but hot. Took it to the Sprint dealer where I got it. They acknowledged it needed to be replaced but told me I had to go to a different store then the one where I got it. Went to that store and they told me they would order a replacement.
What a major disappointment. A great product with a battery problem like this makes for a product that just sucks. How could Palm not have known about this issue? They must have know there was a problem and still put it out there. Not too happy with Palm or Sprint at this time. Wonder if I will be taking it back and drinking the iPhone cool-aid afterall.
I disconnected my Pre from the charger at 9am yesterday morning, and by 9pm it was dead. 12 hours? How is that practical?
I have a Centro – mayba I’ll stick that battery in there and see how it goes.
my battery died. i plugged it in and now i can’t get the phone to turn back on.
The Palm Pre is the coolest device on the market but the battery life sucks. It seems like the proposed 5 hours of continious talk time is more like 2.5 hours. Plus, when the phone gets down to 10% battery life, it powers down. What’s up with that. I needed that last 10% to find my way home using the GPS function. Needless to say, I was stuck asking for directions at a local gas station. Palm can do better than that!
Battery life sux period that’s all there is too it.limited apps and will be a year or so before they get more than 20 apps. Where the I phone has 50000 apps in the store and counting. I get max 4 hours out of my pre. Love thr multi-tasking and the phone. The touch screen is way to sensative. I have been with sprint for years and have waited for the pre for 6 months. I am going to sprint tomorrow to break 2 contracts (mine and wifes $400) and going to att to get the iphone 3g S. I keep giving sprint too many second chances NO MORE. IPHONE here I come. SPRINT CUSTOMER SERVICE IS TERRIBLE. Oh yea and I am always roaming sprint coverage stinks.
Thats is why your battery life sucks. If you are roaming your phone is constantly looking for a signal. Get an airave. Sprint is small but they are the most technologically advanced of all the other carriers. The first 3g carrier, the first to offer websites on phones, the JD power awards they have received for call quality, speed, and customer service. Sprint is very strong in the west but not in the east. You know how to make sprint big again? People need to support sprint and they will easily outshine the competition. Sprint will work hard because they have something to prove; ATT and Verizon dont. Once Sprint comes back on top again they will get lazy once more. It just how corporations operate. Bring Sprint back and enjoy the competition that results.
My advice: if you are having battery issues, return your phone for a full refund. You can do this in the first 15 days, and Sprint will also un-extend your contract, reinstate your old rate, etc. It’s a pain in the butt, but it beats being stuck with a lemon phone for 2 years.
If they do fix the problem down the road – great: then you can go buy another one. But returning the Pre and getting your money back protects you in case they DON’T fix the Pre’s problems.
I read all the above posts after buying the PRE. At first I was annoyed as all of you are. Everyone I spoke to also agreed with me. BUT… then I thought I’m buying a HI TECH device that rocks! What do you ALL expect. There will be an aftermarket battery that will more than double the power from 1150 mAh to 2800 mAh. If you are buying the PRE you have to be prepared to shell out money for the extra battery.
Stop wasting your time with contacting tech support and exchanging the phone and calculating your use. Get the extra battery! I did this for a previous phone and although it made the phone at tad bigger with the back cover it solved my battery issues.
I’ve had my Pre for 3 days now and have noticed no appreciable battery issues. Example:
This morning, pulled Pre off USB cable at 7:00am. Went to work, showed off the phone, opened numerous apps, scrolled around, browsed the web, hit google maps, made a couple quick calls. Now, at 5pm, i have 61% power remaining. I have GPS turned off, WIFI turned off, but mail sync on 3 accounts set to “as they show up”. The battery consumption is a bit quick for 10 hours with relatively light use, but it should still last me an entire day under normal circumstances.
I’ve also not had any of these overheating issues everyone seems to be complaining about. I’m definitely smelling “bad batteries” in the mix with heat complaints and short charge life!
I would agree with you about the bad batteries BUT, I’ve already had mine replaced once and still face the same issues. Unless someone comes out with an extended battery this is gonna suck. I outside the 15 day return policy so im stuck with it. I wouldn’t return it anyway. The Pre is cool.
For a good chuckle go to the Palm website it says to optimize battery do this:
Plug phone in when you can, check email less, dont watch videos, don’t use GPS, don’t use WIFI, turn screen off earlier, and the list goes on……perhaps we should just keep it plugged in and look at how pretty it is…..oh wait…mine scratched up WAYYYY to fast.
Cool phone, but………
I had battery issues with my pre too, but if you log off of Aim or any other instant message client it improves battery life significantly. I had battery issues my first 3 days now i have the messaging off and haven’t had a single problem with it.
I have had no problems with my battery life. Charge it at night and it lasts me all day with out a problem. Ill end the day with about 35% left by the end of the day, but im happy
I am extremely dissatisfied with the Palm Pre. I have been anticipating this phone for about 6 months, and it is mediocre at best. Definitely not an iphone killer. The battery life is absolutely terrible, and it overheats soooo much. Palm and Sprint need to fix this problem ASAP!
Yeah having the same battery life issue. I believe palm will address this issue with either a firmeware update or simply replacement batteries for 1st generation palm pre’s
I HAD thoughts of “upgrading” to the PRE or iphone 3GS and retiring my VX8300 with Verizon. Now the brakes are full on with contemplating a “smart phone” acquisition. All phones consume power, ESPECIALLY the PRE that touts it can have several apps open at once but, at the price of having to disable most of the fun features to insure a battery that MAY only last a day, NF Way, why bother with the PRE. IF I may decide to upgrade, the iphone, as stated in earlier posts, has 27 gazillion apps that are ALREADY OUT and available. I may be stuck with ATT for the two year gig for now but will switch back to Verizon the moment it’s LTE 4G network is ready. That should coincide nicely with the ending of any ATT 2 year contract… Go with the iphone 3GS with ATT for now and jump to Verizon in two years….
I thought for sure I received a bad phone/battery but after reading all of these reviews, I guess I’m wrong. I’ve had the phone for 4 days and it hasn’t made it until noon without dying on a full charge all night. And the worst part is that once it dies, I have to charge it for 15 minutes before it will even come back on! Completely unacceptable. I love the phone but this is a deal-breaker.
The Pre has the worst battery life of any phone I’ve ever seen or heard of. I am sending it back tomorrow (day 14) unless I hear there has been a breakthough on the battery life (that palm makes some kind od warrantee committing public statement about). Add to that the fact that you can’t sync to outlook if you are running Vista 64 because Palm is not supporting 64 bit systems…. I’m out-of here and goodbye sprint and my 50+ phones, and loyalty since 1995.
I bought mine on Wednesday, and the battery life seems to be terrible. I am a realtor and need my phone all day long. But I quickly realize that ikf you are not using it, you better be charging it. Very Disappointed.
Battery is horrib.e! I can’t make it through the morning with email exchange running and NO phone calls. Charged all nite, unplugged in morning and getting battery warnings by noon.
The overheating issue is real as well. Man, does it get hot!! Seema to be random when it happens.
Just got palm pre last night…. Battery sucks with it turned off most day and turned on for mabye a hour it was dead n a 12 hr day
The Palm Pre battery life lasts shorter then the flavor of my gum. Unfortunatly the battery does not come in a 5 pack. I hope there is a fix for this soon or I am talking it back
At first, my battery life was poor. I turned off instant messengers and the battery life tripled. For the people seeing their battery drain heavy while not even using it, check your instant messenger settings.
Today, I received and sent several emails, accepting meeting invites and dismissing reminders every 30 minutes, received a couple of phone calls, and watched a few YouTube videos, listened to Pandora using stereo bluetooth headphones for 7 hours straight and the battery is at 22%. It’s been off the touchstone for 10 hours now.
Ditto… Ditto… Ditto… Battery life sucks. I am so dissapointed. I exchanged my pnone for a diffrent one after a week of frustration and its the same deal. Im taking this one back also… why have a phone you cant use.
I bought pre phone last week, great phone but battery life is not that great. Matter of fact, I have to charge 2 times a day if I access GPS for few mins/ email for few mins.
Not a great battery life, well not even a good battery life.
Palm pre is a great phone, but if it going to turn as a paper-weight in few hours, what’s the use? well sorry can be a paper weight. I may call Sprint and give my phone back. They should recall or issue good battery that should stay longer -
