The Palm Pre Edge
When new devices are launched these days, it seems standard to go down the list of specs after which there is approval or disappointment. Does it have 3G? How many megapixels is the camera? How much memory? Yada, yada, yada…
But the iPhone, Android and now Palm are changing all that by changing the competitive edge from the hardware specs to the software stack. And when comparing THOSE platforms, a Wired.com article gives 6 reasons why the Palm WebOS and Palm Pre might just come out on top:
- TouchScreen & Keyboard in one package – the iPhone Touch QWERTY is subpar and the T-Mobile G1 keyboard could be improved as well. The PalmPre is the best of all of them.
- It Improves On The iPhone – Copy & Paste. Better Camera. Removal battery… it improves on the hardware specs. Sorry to go against our own intro but ’tis true.
- Multi-tasking – iPhone doesn’t really multitask at all and with the G1 its hard to tell what exactly is currently multi-tasking. Palm WebOS deck of cards is brilliant.
- Integrated Contacts – including syncing
- Choice of network and flavors – iPhone is AT&T and Android G1 is T-Mobile… Palm Pre and WebOS will be offered on a much broader level by end of 2009
- Everyone loves the underdog.
