Did I hear what I think I heard? ArsTechnica writer Jon Stokes is also an iPhone owner. We all know about the unequival elitism inherent in most iFanboys but when watching videos of Palm’s new OS – Palm WebOS – Jon Stokes… well, I’ll use his own words:

As nice as the pré’s hardware is, Palm’s webOS is where the real action is. As a dedicated iPhone user, I experienced something very strange and quite unexpected while watching Palm demo the new OS: my iPhone suddenly felt old and played out. It’s like Palm started with the iPhone, copied all the best ideas, and then made the whole package better.

Now THAT is some pretty convincing verbage. It would be one thing coming from Palm. Or Palm fans. Or an independent tech site. But from a tech journalist AND dedicated iPhone owner themselves? WOW!

I don’t want to give away TOO much about what Jon says in his article so read the whole thing at Ars, but lets just say that it seems like he might be ditching his iPhone for a Pre Pretty soon. Or is that Pre-tty soon?
